The King’s patience with the current debate about climate change appears to be tested. “Where is the scientific proof for human influence on the environment?”, he asked.

When a reporter responded with the findings of the IPCC’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he dismissed the findings as an excuse to holiday in hotel resorts. “Where are they meeting this year, Bangkok isn’t it?” referencing the 44th Session of the IPCC to be held in Bangkok in October. “I’ll start believing the science when the IPCC hold the 45th Session in Croyden”, he said.

“I mean, seriously, what has science ever done for the betterment of humanity?”, he said before rushing off to open the Kingdom’s new coal-fired power station.
