The Editor of The Times of Llama has had to defend the integrity of the publication and its reporters in response to claims that the “whole thing is a complete joke”. In a sometimes heated press conference with journalist from other (jealous) newspapers, the Editor denied that the newspaper made up its own stories, had no real journalists on its staff and would not know journalistic integrity if it was run over by a bus with it.
“Like all newspapers, we are constantly looking at ways to improve the profitability of our business without compromising journalism”, he said, “so sometimes we have to fill in the blanks and even take a little artistic license in the accuracy of our reporting”.
He further denied that the newspaper had become beholden to commercial interests, principally its advertisers. “We refute any suggestion that we only publish stories that are favourable to our advertisers”, despite wearing a Llama Nation t-shirt at the press conference. “I just like the feel and the design”, he said when questioned on his attire, “but everybody shoud make up their own mind.
